International Overdose Awareness Day Event - August 28

Previous Event
Wed, Aug 28 - 5:30pm

Bloomingdale Police Dept, 201 S Bloomingdale Rd, Bloomingdale IL

Open to the Public

Everyday more than 130 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids. In DuPage County alone, deaths from illegal opioids increased 13 percent - from 72 to 81 - from 2017 to 2018. More than half of all Americans know someone affected by the opioid crisis, and only about one quarter of those with opioid addiction get the treatment they need. It's time to break the silence around this disease.

Get Involved!! Be Informed! Speak Up!!

Join the LTM Foundation, along with the Bloomingdale and Glendale Heights Police Departments as we raise awareness about the dangers of drug misuse. Attend this free event to learn what is being done to address this epidemic from our community leaders including Illinois State Rep Deb Conroy, DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick, Lorraine Martin, National Safety Council President and CEO, and LTM Foundation President Felicia Miceli. Tour the Hidden in Plain Sight Trailer to discover common places teens hid drugs, learn how to administer life saving NARCAN, and speak with local resources that provide addiction related support.

We will remember all those lost to this epidemic. Please bring a framed picture of your loved one to display at the memorial table.
Help raise awareness by purchasing a purple LED porch light from Len's Ace Hardware in either Bloomingdale, Roselle or Addison and displaying it from August 25 - 31. (Bulbs have been discounted from $5.99 to $3.99.)
