The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) promotes and implements prevention and early intervention strategies to reduce the impact of mental health and substance use disorder in America's communities.

There are also support groups that can help families of those struggling with addiction. The meetings, held across the country, provide coping skills, self-care, education and resources for family members.

I have a family member affected by Substance Use Disorder. I feel so alone in my struggle. Where can I go for support?

You are not alone. There is help available. A number of organizations host support groups for those dealing with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) of a family member or friend.

You are welcome to join LTM’s support group that meets the fourth Thursday of every month in Carol Stream, IL. Led by an experienced, licensed clinical social worker, the meeting is focused on promoting enhanced coping skills and self-care in addition to speaking to others that are experiencing similar issues. The meeting is free and open to the public.
